FAQ’s

What is the process of ordering and installing a Treyone kitchen, from start to finish?

Firstly, we suggest you come and visit one of our showrooms. Have a good look around – identify the styles and looks you like, and gather ideas. Have a chat with one of our designers, outlining your requirements. If you then decide you’d like to proceed further, we can book in a time and date for our designer to come to you to carry out a site survey (the first step towards producing a design and quote).

You may find that we need a number of showroom meetings and/or site visits before we finalise the design and detail (elements such as finishes, worktops and appliances) and produce a quote.

Once you approve the quote we request a deposit of 25% of the value of the quote, to book your slot in our workshop for manufacture.

Two weeks before the start of your installation, we request an interim payment of 70% of the value of the quote. The final 5% falls due after the installation is complete, any snagging works have been carried out and you are 100% happy with your new kitchen. This final payment takes account of any extras (or reductions) incurred during the installation.

How long will it take to fit my new kitchen?

The length of kitchen installations varies from project to project, depending on the size of your kitchen and any additional works that need to take place. On average, we suggest allowing 2 – 3 weeks from start to finish; larger kitchens may take longer, smaller ones, less time.

Your designer will be able to give you a more accurate timeline once you’ve discussed your requirements and design.

By when must I have made all final decisions on colours, appliances and finishes?

Your kitchen plans go into the workshop stage (manufacture and appliance ordering) approximately 4 – 6 weeks before the start of your installation. In order to ensure the project goes smoothly and runs to time, our Workshop Manager needs to have all the information/specifications finalised by then.

We order appliances 4 – 5 weeks ahead of installation to avoid/take account of any stock availability issues.

Your designer will be able to give you a specific date for final decisions on all the elements of your kitchen once your deposit has been paid.

What happens if I need to use my kitchen while it’s being fitted?

We have a number of workarounds and solutions to help you if you need to maintain a basic functioning kitchen during installation. For example, we can provide temporary worktops or a temporary hob.

Please make sure you discuss your requirements with your designer and/or the Installation Manager when he gets in touch prior to starting the installation.

Do you make all the furniture?

Yes, we manufacture all the cabinets and fronts for your kitchen in-house at the Treyone workshop attached to our Liskeard Showroom. You’re more than welcome to get in touch and arrange a tour of our workshop so you can see for yourself how we work.

Do you organise the scheduling of all the fitters and other trades?

Yes, our Installation Manager, Marc schedules all the trades involved in the fitting of your kitchen. If there are any special requirements, these will be raised by your designer during the design process (particularly if advance planning is necessary) or with Marc, prior to installation.

Trades we can co-ordinate include plasterers, painters/decorators, flooring contractors, electricians, plumbers and worktop manufacturers.

Can I supply my own appliances?

You are more than welcome to source your own appliances but do bear in mind that we have access to, and experience of, a wide range of suppliers and brand Partners that we work with on a regular basis, including Neff, Miele and Fisher & Paykel to name a few. In this way you’re able to benefit from our knowledge of the market and access our competitive prices.

If you do choose to source your own appliances then please ensure you provide us with information on the specific models ordered so that we can find the relevant technical installation specs for use in the design and manufacture processes where, for example, adequate spacing needs to be allowed for.

Can you match any colour?

Indeed we can! All we need is a sample of the colour you require matching in the form of a swatch, a piece of existing plinth or cabinet door. We then send this away to our paint mixing company, for matching.

Please bear in mind that matching to the colour of existing units, for example, a new cabinet door being added to an existing kitchen, can prove difficult as, once the door is in situ, the human eye will pick up even the slightest mismatch. A further note, we cannot guarantee the matching of any natural wood products as the PU that is used to seal the wood tends to yellow with age, making it near impossible to match with newly manufactured cabinet doors.

Can I use my own fitter?

You can use a fitter that you source yourself but we wouldn’t advise it. The majority of our fitters have been working with Treyone for 20+ years and are fully conversant with how we manufacture and intend for our kitchens to be assembled. For you, this means a quicker and more efficient fit, with quality guaranteed.

Can I come see my kitchen being made?

Yes, as the manufacture is so much a part of Treyone’s bespoke kitchen experience, we encourage all our clients to come down to the workshop and see their kitchen being made.

Get in touch with your designer who will arrange a suitable time and date for you to visit.

Do you create kitchens for clients based beyond Devon and Cornwall?

Yes, we do! With a trusted fitter based in London, we have installed many a kitchen for clients in London and the surrounding area. Some of these clients approached us having been delighted with the kitchens we created for their Devon and Cornwall-based second homes.

We also provide a supply-only service where a fitter of your choice takes on the responsibility of the kitchen installation and finish once it’s been delivered by us. In these instances we are happy to liaise with your fitter pre-delivery, providing them with a thorough understanding of how the kitchen should be installed.

Can you part refurbish a kitchen that was not originally created by Treyone?

As a general rule, we don’t undertake part-refurbishment projects on non-Treyone kitchens. This is purely on the grounds that you can never be sure of the construction or build quality of the original being altered. Difficulties encountered can translate into unforeseeable costs and timelines.

Treyone holds a record of every kitchen or job we have ever manufactured so we have all the necessary details in place to provide quotes and designs, and confidently make the alterations required to an existing Treyone kitchen.
