Made in Cornwall Every Treyone kitchen is designed and hand-built in Cornwall, by Cornish craftsmen, in a Cornish workshop. That’s not a footnote. It’s central to how we work and what we stand for.
Building locally means a shorter supply chain and fewer miles between timber, workshop and your home, which is one of the simplest and most meaningful environmental credentials a bespoke kitchen can offer. It also means every job we take on puts money and skill back into the local economy: wages for Cornish joiners, work for Cornish suppliers, and a trade kept alive in the county it started in.
We pair that local provenance with FSC-certified timber, so you get a clear chain of custody from forest to finished kitchen. Our standard finishes are chosen to last the lifetime of the kitchen when looked after, rather than low-VOC alternatives, which don’t hold up as well over time. Low-VOC options are available on request if you’d prefer them. And because a Treyone kitchen is built to be repaired rather than replaced, it’s designed to last decades. That’s the single biggest thing you can do to reduce a kitchen’s lifetime environmental impact.
Heated by Our Own Waste
Every kitchen we build produces offcuts, shavings and sawdust: solid wood that’s too small to use again, but perfectly dry and ready to burn. Rather than sending it to landfill, we put it to work.
Our own briquetting machine compresses that waste wood into dense, high-energy briquettes on site. No offcut leaves the workshop as rubbish. It’s turned straight into fuel.
Those briquettes heat our factory through the winter months, so the wood that goes into your kitchen also helps keep the workshop running. It cuts our waste, cuts our reliance on oil, and closes the loop on materials we’d otherwise pay to have taken away.
It’s a small, practical example of the same principle behind everything we build: use what you’ve got well, and waste as little as possible.
Cornwall Wildlife Trust
We’re also proud members of the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, supporting their work protecting the county’s habitats, coastline and wildlife. It’s a small commitment, but one that matters to us. The Cornish landscape is part of why we build here, and we want to see it looked after for the long term.
Recycled and repurposed materials
We recycle our waste paper, cardboard, polystyrene, plastics and metal. Our timber offcuts, sawdust and shavings are converted into briquettes that fuel our bio-mass heater and keep our factory workshop warm during winter. With careful removal of your existing kitchen we endeavour to find homes for any old kitchens, appliances and worktops where we can.
Clean energy
In 2018 we installed over 80 solar panels at our Liskeard head office, showroom and workshop, which are capable of generating 30,000kW of energy. This helps power our machinery and daily operations. We put what we don’t use back into the national grid.
