South Pool Shaker
Set within the tranquil surroundings of South Pool, Devon our client owned a ‘home from home’ that needed updating to meet their requirements. This included replacing the kitchen they inherited and lived with for the past 20 years.
When staying in Devon, they love to entertain a variety of guests, including their ever-expanding family. Being the heart of the home, the kitchen had to allow for places to cook, perch and socialise, with deliberately set-out areas to do so. As an old stable yard, the design had to be sympathetic to the architecture that surrounded it, whilst playing an ergonomically modern role. Starting with their existing Aga and a sample of the new wooden flooring they wished to install, we helped create a scheme that complimented and utilised it’s environment.
As a memento of the kitchen they were taking out, we were asked to incorporate an element of the old into the new. It was agreed to use the post legs from the old island and Treyone refinished these to tie in with the new scheme.
As our clients lived far away, Treyone liaised with the flooring contractor, decorator, electrician and Aga refurbisher. This helped ensure that the project would run smoothly and complete on time, ready for their summer of entertaining. – Stewart MacPherson, Senior Designer (Treyone Kingsbridge, Devon)
